Making Things Happen In 2018

Making Things Happen In 2018

The new year is approaching fast, and I’m not sure how you feel about New Years, but for me, I can’t help but get a real sense of optimism as I think about what I want to achieve for the year ahead. I’m not one to set New Years resolutions but I do like to reflect on the successes and failures of the previous year and create a brand new action plan. It is amazing how much time and effort you can put into something and not see the results you were hoping for, but you can’t let that hinder you from chasing that dream. All the work you are putting in now, is bringing you closer to that dream whether you see the results quickly or more slowly (or in a totally different way) than you had expected. Are the steps you are taking to get there the ones that will get you there the fastest? It’s really hard to know, which is why at some point you need to stop, take a step back, look at what has worked well, what hasn’t and re-evaluate your action plan. As a business owner, I’m forced to do this on a regular basis, but the New Year is when I like to check in on my long-term goals and make sure I’m executing them!

Whether you will set new goals for 2018 or you are still working towards an existing goal, creating a monthly or quarterly action plan is the best way to stay on top of making your dreams happen! Schedule monthly deadlines in the calendar with reminders to make sure you aren’t letting them slip through the cracks. If you need help, ask for it! Do whatever it takes to make it happen!

Lastly, I am a firm believer in the power of visualization and I can absolutely say that everything that I visualized about my career has happened for me and I really do believe that having a strong vision of myself and my career for so many years is a big reason I am where I am today. I really want to encourage you to think a lot about where you see yourself and have a really clear picture of  what that is and I promise you, if you can do that, you will make it happen! I know you will. 2018 is going to be an amazing year friends, I can feel it!!
