LIFE: TOP 10 HIGHLIGHT MOMENTS OF 2016

LIFE: TOP 10 HIGHLIGHT MOMENTS OF 2016

What a whirlwind year this has been!

In looking back over 2016, I would say that this year has been full of accomplishments, life changing milestones and completely special moments. I’m so proud of this last year and while I’m looking forward to the new year and kicking off 2017, I wanted to take a minute to savour some of my favourite moments and count down my 10 top highlights of the year.

If you’re reading this post, then grab a glass of wine, or snuggle up with a cup of coffee because there’s tons of photos to pour through and videos to watch. Enjoy my top 10 highlight moments of 2016!

10. MAKING MY BLOG MORE OF A FOCUS.

Until this last year my blog was somewhat ancillary to my interior design website. I rebranded my blog to www.karinbohn.com and started to focus more on fashion, my life and just generally expressing myself more authentically and personally.

My blog has been a HUGE source of pleasure, gratification and sheer fulfillment and now that it’s got a life of it’s own, I’m so excited to see what’s in store for karinbohn.com in the new year!

Thank you so much for coming along with me on this journey.

9. VEGAS WITH MY GIRLFRIENDS.
Time spent with my girlfriends is always time well spent. Because I’m a workaholic (I do not say this with pride) and I blog/vlog full-time in addition to running my interior design business, I often feel like I don’t actually get to spend enough time with the people that I love.
I headed to Vegas with 4 of my closest friends for the long weekend in September and we had the time of our lives. It was full of memories, laughs, and what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!

8. MY PENTHOUSE PROJECT WAS LISTED AS THE MOST EXPENSIVE REAL ESTATE IN CANADA!
This was a HUGE career win for me.

When I landed the job to redesign the penthouse at the top of the Harbour Three Green tower in Coal Harbour in Vancouver, I knew that this was going to be a special project and a great portfolio piece. I worked on the project for about 2 years before it was finished and just the completion of the project alone felt like a victory and hugely satisfying.

Shortly after its completion I got a phone call from the listing agent to let me know about the listing and I was floored to hear the news. I couldn’t help but feel a huge sense of pride and straight-up awe that it was on the market as the most expensive real estate in Canada, listed at $59 million.

After all the hard work, this was (and still is) a career moment that I savour.
A few photos from the penthouse are below and more can been seen on the House of Bohn website.

7. I LAUNCHED MY WEB-SERIES AND STARTED VLOGGING!
Getting my YouTube channel off the ground was hands down a highlight for me this past year. I’ve completely fallen love with vlogging, creating YouTube content, and generally sharing my life and aspects of my business with you in front of the camera.
I’ve loved every second of creating video content and I’m so excited to continue this journey in 2017!

6. TRAVELLING TO AUSTRALIA WITH MY MOM AND MY LITTLE SISTER.
My little sister, Tisha, graduated from her Masters in Physio Therapy program back in February and I headed to Australia to see her graduate and spend about 10 days with her boyfriend, Eoin, (who I got to meet for the first time!) and my mom.
It was such a nice trip to spend that time with family and see a part of the world that I’ve never seen before. I landed in Perth via Sydney, where we spent most of our time, and I absolutely intend on going back and seeing more!!

5. CHRIS AND I SAILED THROUGH DESOLATION SOUND FOR 7 DAYS.
One of the amazing aspects of this last year (and past few years) is all the sailing that Chris and I have done. One of my all-time favourite sailing trips was this past July when we decided to spend 7 days and 6 nightS on our boat sailing around Desolation Sound in beautiful BC.
We lucked out with some amazing weather and it was such a treat to experience British Columbia and all the gorgeous scenery that it has to offer. Not to mention the peaceful downtime… when I get to experience British Columbia this way I’m reminded that we really do live in heaven on earth.

4. I ADDED THE MEDIA TEAM TO HOUSE OF BOHN.

Growing the media side of business, my blog, my YouTube channel, would not have been possible at the scale that I did if it weren’t for the addition of the media team to House of Bohn.

I’ve completely fallen in love with content creation and because of the addition of my media team, I’ve been able to experiment with different kinds of content that I wanted to create well as produce content that’s been incredible fulfilling and inspiring.

In been such a journey so far in 2016 and I’m so excited for what’s in store for 2017!

3. WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

I can’t believe that we finally did it! We bought a house last July and moved in during the summer at the end of August.

This is a dream come true for me because we had been shopping on and off for a house for about 2 years before we actually pulled the trigger on a place. It’s also super exciting because we’re in a townhouse that has a fair amount of square footage and it’s primed for a renovation. It was built in the early 90’s and while everything is in great condition, we plan on gutting our place and completely renovating from top to bottom.

I can’t wait to get started on this project!

2. OSCAR!

Now that we’ve moved from our condo in Yaletown to a townhouse in North Vancouver that has tons of green space, grass and parks right outside our front door, it seemed like the perfect time for us to get a dog.

After a number of months of research and checking out breeders we decided on a little grey French Bulldog and named him Oscar. He was the best Christmas present that Chris I and I could have possible got for each other and he has literally been the BEST addition to our little family!!

1. WE GOT MARRIED!!

My number 1 highlight of 2016 was getting married to Chris on November 17th in Cancun, Mexico.

Spending a week with our family and friends, not to mention the wedding itself, was so special and so perfect, that words can’t really express or describe how amazing our wedding was. Every moment during the week was so incredible and I truly feel like the luckiest girl to have had the experience of sharing such a special moment with the man that I love.
