18 Oct #BOHNAFIDE EP.5: CHOOSING MY HARDWOOD FLOORS AT DIVINE FLOORING
So believe it or not, this is the first time I will be choosing hardwood floors….FOR MYSELF!!! Over the years, I’ve chosen what seems like a gazillion different hardwood floors for different homes, restaurants, retail shops, but today I am choosing the floors for my own home!! YAY!!
Well, if there is one place to make my decision easier, it’s Divine Flooring! I have been using Divine’s products in my projects for years because of the amazing quality and excellent range of hardwoods they offer.
More recently, I chose THEIR hardwood floors when House of Bohn was asked to re-design their Vancouver showroom last year! Although I may be bias, Divine is by far my favourite flooring showroom I’ve ever been to. As I explain in episode 5 of #BOHNAFIDE, we designed the showroom to mimic a gallery so that each product is super easy to find on the wall but also offers large portable samples so you get a better idea of what the flooring will actually look like on the ground.
This allows you to get a better idea of the variation between individual planks, how the finish looks in different light, and how deep the bevel is. All things to consider when choosing your flooring. BONUS: Behind the gallery walls you will find individual plank samples that you can take with you! Pretty awesome, right?!?! If you are in the Vancouver area and are in the market for flooring, you MUST come check out the new Divine Flooring Showroom on Main St.
Divine has also introduced a great selection of carpets and tile to their inventory which takes the hassle out of sourcing multiple flooring options when designing your home.
Ok! Back to choosing my hardwood floors!! Since I have been using Divine’s product for a while now, I am familiar with every collection they have and (thought) I already had my flooring picked out – ROME from the COSMOPOLITAN Collection. Which was also designed by the team at House of Bohn 🙂
Light wood flooring has been extremely popular over the last few years because of its clean, modern look and the ability to brighten up any space. I don’t see this trend going anywhere anytime soon, which is why I knew I wanted to go light. I also knew I wanted character in my wood floors and ROME has a beautiful wire-brushed finish that exposes the natural grain of the wood, and helps hide any wear and tear over the years.
Funny enough, after pulling the large samples of my top 3 light wood choices, I may be changing my mind! Although, it’s definitely between ROME, ZAMBONI and ICICLE.
Ultimately I really needed to take the samples back to the office to match them to the other millwork and hardware finishes we have chosen so far, so I can see how it will all come together. Then I will make the final decision!! But until then, if you are curious about the cost of this flooring and my entire home renovation for that matter, then you are in luck because we have a budget episode coming very soon!!
